So, Day 1 of the comment challenge was to audit one’s own commenting behaviour. This is relatively straightforward for me because I have not been at all active in the field. The challenge is:
Pre Day 1, I could honestly say that I had never commented, therefore never tracked comments. On Day 1 I signed up for CoComment (but still don’t know how to use it and don’t seem to be able to connect to the site either). I have also made a few comments, but more of the “how do I do this?” type of thing.
Because I thought my blog could get a visitor for the first time I rediscovered how to ftp to it, upgraded it and started the search for a new theme. I seem to have been busy with a little teaching and trying to find some paid work, so haven’t had that much time…but I have to say that I am pleased to have signed up and will try to hang on in there, even if it is only just.
Well done Chris you are off to a good start - and looks like I kept you busy upgrading your blog plus seen your comments on others blogs. Don’t stress too much about the challenge - its okay to do several tasks in the same day . We are aware of time issues and will be working hard not to overwhelm people.
Hello Chris,
If you are a new comer, I’m truly happy to meet you, because I really am one, and I’m looking forward to meeting some people like me.
I found this Comment Challenge really “challenging” as I strive to follow up with all kinds of procedures we are supposed to cope with. Most of the time my trials just don’t
work - for instance, to use coComment properly -and I get frustrated until, suddenly, all those things I can’t even translate in my own language start working by themselves !
Chris, nice to meet you, I’m a teacher of Portuguese, my students are 10 and 11 eleven years old, they will be blogging soon [ some technical difficulties yet…) and I would be glad to bring them here to meet you.
Thank you and enjoy your Challenge!
Hi Inpi, hope you are tracking the comments…I visited your site but could not see where to comment..plus I can’t read any Portuguese! We just had some Brazilian couch surfers staying with us and I really wish we could speak it a little.
I am working with a school currently trying to encourage a few of the children with their own blogs but they are being quite slow to get started- we had hoped that they would blog more out of school as the time they get in school is quite small. I did consider the comment challenge for them, but decided against it as I am not sure I have the time to support them properly with it.
Anyway, would be good to hear from you.
Hello Chris, thank you for answering me. I was ashamed of having post a comment to you asking you if you were a beginner, when, after reading about you, I discovered you are an expert; sorry, I was in such a hurry to accomplish the activity of the day that didn’t stop to know you better before posting.
My blog has a category written in English: 31Day Comment Challenge and you surely can comment there; today, when I logged in, I found my blog theme had been replaced for the default theme, perhaps you visited it during this strange mutation phase.
My young students also have very little time to build their blogs; they do it at home or with me, during recreation time, that’s why we progress so slowly.
My School encourages teachers to go ahead with e-learning but, at the same time, classical learning remains an overwhelming presence and we have such few time left to follow the call of the “web-wild”.
During this first days of challenge, magnificent lessons are pouring over me and I’ve the feeling to need a few months to integrate all that treasure in my teaching practice.
I’ll be back to learn from your Blog, thank you.
